Arresting Images

I took this photo because I feel it perfectly captures the feeling of gloom overtaking us despite still feeling fine.

I took this photo because the chaotic pouring rain combined around the stones led me to wonder why the stones seemed so peaceful despite the constant motion. I don't think I was successful at capturing the chaos of the rain.

As I took this photo, I thought about how to represent the way that life travels in cycles. The tuna comes from the water into the can, and the water is used to wash the tuna out of the can.

  1. Overall I love how you see the beauty and poetry in the seemingly mundane. This photo specifically is very intriguing the more I look at it, and I love the colors and imagery. I think one thing that could make it even more visually appealing would be to play around with the rule of thirds a little bit, and take advantage of those beautiful power lines to make the image more impactful.

  2. I love how the subject of this photo is just a few little stones. I think the simplicity of this image is what makes it so impactful. I think your message would be better communicated, however, if the camera were level and close to the rocks. The imagery…

  1. This photo and caption gives me the impression that you and I are both following the 2024 presidential election race. Strange times indeed, and a strange photo to pair with it. I wonder if there's a way to make us focus more fully on something that feels the most impactful - for example, the telephone pole and the bundle of wires. Perhaps by moving closer to the subject and framing it in such a way that the heaviest point of the bundle is the visually heaviest thing we see?

As you probably know, the scattered imaginings that would eventually coalesce into grunge were named and stamped in the Seattle area. How ironic then that an artist from Maryland would so perfectly render it in these images.

You've captured monotony amazingly. Human beings exist in a chaotic system, and yet we execute order in our daily routines. A part of us yearns for consistency. Another part identifies consistency as imprisonment. Maybe we wish to be more like the universe in it's spinning fury? You have said all of this with these pieces. My only critique is bringing focus into play, and maybe playing around with the color in post. Thank…
