I tried to capture contrast of flat and deep space in this image. The goal was to show how the manmade electronics create a wall from the endless world. I feel like I partially succeeded with the generator consisting of mostly flat lines and the portion of the rest of the world with converging lines, but I feel like I could have done a better job of expressing
the flatness of the generator
I tried to capture flat space in this image in order to show the mindset of nowhere to go that I wanted to capture with this image. The flower takes up the whole frame, and no spatial cues appear to create the feeling of space. The flower has been discarded, and there's nowhere left for it to go. Its life is over.
I tried to create an ambiguous landscape with this image. I felt like it would be a fun way to create a new landscape, though I feel like the lighting was wrong to evoke anything except smallness. If I had a bit more control over the light I could have made this look more like a vast desert rather than a bunch of dirt and weeds.
Nice photos Ward!
1. I think this is a cool way to show deep and flat space. I think this could have been more successful if the generator was squared with the camera to really eliminate the depth cues to create more contrast with the deep space to the right.
2. I like this idea to show flat space, I think if you were more level with the flowers instead of looking down at them they would look flatter in the frame.
3. This space does look ambiguous! It's cool how the plants look like they could be trees. I agree that the lighting would make this look more like a desert.
